The Sunday's Review of Egypt's Revolution

An interesting analysis with a surprising assessment from an Egyptian reporter who talks about President Obama's Cairo speech and a moment of yes you can clarity for the Egyptian people.

"Right now there's been a perfect storm of three conditions," Arianna said. "The growing connectivity in the Middle East. It's phenomenal what is happening -- 5 million people on Facebook in Egypt. There's been the growing unemployment among the young, which has been a tinderbox, especially after the global recession. And also there's been this real organization of a dozen to fifteen real leaders, including Ghonim from Google, who've been a lot of very creative and very important things. And so even though there isn't a Lech Walesa, there is real leadership behind this movement."

President Obama's Cairo Speech - Did it Jump Start Democracy in Egypt?

The experts said it was a great and important hopeful, healing speech. It was praised in the Muslim world, in the West and by Muslim Americans here at home. A few wise men thought it might be a game changer, more so than I thought, or even the President might have imagined. Did it start the rolling democracy revolutions across Africa and the "Middle East"? what do you think. (Video)

Let's Go To The Video Tape

Sit back for a minute and put yourself in the other guys shoes. You watched, along with the rest of the world, as the people of the United States rose up and peaceably replaced a criminally insane leader and his gang, who tortured and terrorized the world and bankrupt his nation.

You note that the Citizens of America hired a smart guy the is not Culturally Illiterate. One who also knows something about and respects Islam. You are in the hall, listing to this man who has come to your land to give you hope. Would you then be content to go back home as a young person and live under Egypt's George Bush i.e. Mubarak?

What a Marvelous tribute from the land of Classical African Civilization, kemet (Ancient Egypt)

As the President quoted the Quaran "be conscious of God and Speak always the truth", (05:59 min) few in the West understood  the profound importance of that opening. Even fewer in the world understood how deeply rooted those words are in the land of my ancestors that the President was speaking from.

What do you think, what role did the speech play in recent events in the Muslim world?

The pope: condoms don't help against HIV

It is perhaps old news that the Catholic Church is not a fan of condoms; however, they are rarely as blunt about it as the other day. Pope Benedictines, a man who seems to be dreaming of past times (medieval times), has now publicly announced that condoms is not the way to go if you want to stop HIV. Indeed, the pope is even claiming that condoms make the problem worse because people have more sex.

What evidence does he have for this claim? None, of course, the Catholic Church does not seem to know what evidence means. Their method for finding the truth is asking the pope and whatever he says is the truth, never mind that there are numerous studies showing that the pope is simply wrong in his statement.

Rarely does the distinction between the scientific method and the catholic (or religious) way become so clear. Do you want to trust what the pope says just because he is the pope, or do you want to trust people who have actually gone out and looked at the effects of condom use? Know that choosing the latter will make you a heretic in the eyes of the Catholic Church. Religion or Science? Irrationality or Rationality? Your choice...
