Dr Shaun Holt is the founder of The Vitamin Lab, an organisation that has reinvented the way in which vitamins and supplements are bought and taken.
When he launched The Vitamin Lab, Dr Holt reinvented the way that New Zealanders buy and take vitamins and supplements. Dr Holt estimates New Zealanders are wasting one third of their natural health spend on the wrong products for them or products without the proof that they work. As well as wasting money, many are not getting the health benefits that they should be getting from well-researched vitamins and supplements.
At The Vitamin Lab, recommendations based on medical research studies, are made according to the consumers medical requirements. The vitamins and supplements are then packaged in ultra-convenient, personalised daily sachets to make taking them easy. The Vitamin Lab is soon to be licensed in four other countries.
Previously, Dr Holt was the founder of P3 Research, an independent clinical trials unit based in Wellington and Tauranga; Research Review, a company that produce regular reviews of the medical literature for health professionals which now operates in three countries; and Clinicanz, New Zealand’s only clinical trials site management organisation.
Dr Holt holds pharmacy and medicine degrees, has been the principal investigator in over 50 clinical trials and has over 50 publications in the medical literature. He is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand, an advisor to the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation and is the ex-medical director of clinical trials for the Wellington Asthma Research Group. He is also a member of the international editorial board of medical research journal Focus on alternative and complementary therapies.
