Curing Diabetes in 30 Days? (Video)

If a person has type 2 diabetes for 20 years can they be diabetes free in 30 days?

I have a friend that has diabetes, or has he says, he is A Diabetic. Imagine that, he did not say he is a human being or a god man but he envisions himself as something called a "Diabetic", wow. Now like most Allopathic doctors I know of, his doctor told him that he has a "disease" called diabetes he will have it for life, but he can help him "manage" it with drugs (insulin). He has told him the perfunctory, exercise and eat right line. By eat right he means something allopaths call counting carbs, meaning counting carbohydrates the food that turns into sugar.

My friend knows that his body's loss of its ability to manage sugar in his blood is a deadly condition that would have caused his death if his allopathic MD had not given him this life saving drug. He also knows that if he gives himself the wrong dose of this drug he could kill himself. So the most important events of everyday of his life is counting carbs, Eating "on time" and getting his dose right.

Is my friend's diagnoses and treatment the only diagnoses and treatment?

Let's go to the video tape.

Each of our decisions about health has trade offs and we must weigh the benefits vs. risks of treatment plans presented to us. If you were my friend which treatment plan would you choose?

So what can you do about diabetes? If you have friends and family with this blood sugar management malfunction make sure they see this 5 minute video so that they at least have a choice and chance of restoring their health.

Note: this piece is about treatment for type 2 diabetes not type 1. To my knowledge type 1 diabetes can be caused by vaccines but no one has proposed a consistent treatment to reverse type 1.

After writing the above two sentences it was pointed out to me that there are other realities regarding type 1 diabetes to consider Click Here.

15 signs you might be pregnant

1. Swollen and tender breasts

Soreness or tingling in breasts is one of pregnancy's most common symptoms. Early in pregnancy breasts will fill out and change shape as they prepare to produce milk. Breasts may become very tender and sensitive for a few months as a result. But, Teresa Pitman, doula and lactation expert, notes: “that not all women experience these changes, especially if they have been on birth control pills.”

2. Darkening areolas

For many women, hormones can cause the areolas, the circles around nipples, to widen and darken during pregnancy. This occurs as the body prepares itself for breastfeeding.

3. Spotting

About five to 10 days after conception, some women notice light spotting when the embryo implants in the uterus. So if you’ve had a light period this month, you might still be carrying a little bundle of joy.

4. Urinary frequency or constipation

When you’re pregnant, your uterus presses directly on the bladder leading to more frequent urination. The added pressure and intestinal changes may also cause constipation. Of course, the more a baby grows, the more the uterus presses against the bladder and other organs.

5. Fatigue

Many women feel very tired early in pregnancy (it takes lots of energy to create a baby!). In fact, fatigue is often one of the first signs of pregnancy. If you are pregnant, chances are you'll start to feel less tired around week 12, when the placenta is fully formed.

6. Nausea

Nausea is one of the most common side effects of pregnancy. It’s caused by an increase in hormone levels (about 80 percent of women experience "morning sickness" during the first 3 months of pregnancy). For many, this nausea is not necessarily confined just to the morning – some feel it all day long. Click here for all the facts on morning sickness.

7. Smell Sensitivity

No, the smells on the bus are not in your head: Many women have a heightened sense of smell during pregnancy. This symptom is one of the most common early signs that you could be pregnant. “Some researchers have speculated that it might be to protect women from eating ‘spoiled’ or tainted foods, thus protecting the baby from any harmful toxins,” says Pitman.

8. Elevated basal temperature

If you’ve been tracking your basal temperature, a positive sign of pregnancy is an increase of about one degree that lasts for more than two weeks after the “dip” in temperature that indicates ovulation.

9. Missing period

The most obvious indicator of pregnancy is a missed period, but a missed period doesn’t always mean a baby is on the way. Stress, diet or an irregular schedule can also be the culprits, so it’s best to get tested before making the big announcement.

10. Unusual hunger or cravings

Pregnant bodies are working hard to grow that baby, and need about 300 extra calories a day. Some women find themselves craving food they would never normally dream of eating, while others simply feel hungry all day long.

11. Headaches

The frequency of migraine headaches can increase with pregnancy. Many women who get hormonal migraine headaches find they get more of them during especially early in pregnancy, explains Pitman. However, some people have the opposite experience and actually get a little reprieve from migraines while expecting.

12. Mood swings

Many women experience emotional mood swings throughout pregnancy. It's natural to go through a variety of emotions as hormones are adjusting and the body is changing.

13. Feeling faint or dizzy

Shifting hormones, combined with the heart beating faster to pump more blood through the body can cause blood pressure to gradually decrease early in pregnancy. As a result many women experience periods of dizziness or feeling lightheaded.

14. Metallic taste in your mouth

Some women complain of an odd “metallic” taste in their mouths during pregnancy. While there is no scientific explanation for this symptom, for some it can last throughout their entire pregnancy.

15. Vivid dreams

Dreams during pregnancy often intensify. So if your dreamin’ has become more dramatic this could be a symptom you’re expecting. (Thank your surging hormones for this one!)

Build Muscle to Burn Fat

Toning and building muscle through exercise can turn your body into a fat-burning machine. There are numerous studies with the facts and figures on this. It appears that adding one additional pound of muscle to your body can burn 30-90 more calories per day, while you are at rest. A pound of fat only burns 2-4 calories in the same time frame. Think of how many more calories you can burn by simply putting on five more pounds of muscle.

To add muscle tissue you must force the body to add it. You can't just add a pound of muscle because you followed a 3-set workout that you read about in a fitness magazine. You need to give the body a reason to add muscle tissue. You have to provide a ''stimulus.'' You can do this in various ways. Basically, you need to subject your body to levels of stress it isn't used to. You can do this by slowly increasing the variables in the exercises you do.

o Increase the weight or resistance
o Do more repetitions
o Do more sets
o Move the weight or resistance slower
o Rest less between sets and exercises

Aging Gracefully

Taking positive steps toward a healthy lifestyle will naturally help protect us from degenerative aging and age-related diseases. To accomplish this Mark Hyman, MD, former co-medical director of Canyon Ranch and author of Ultrametabolism: The Simple Plan for Automatic Weight Loss, recommends the following:

* Make whole foods the focus of your diet, and cut back on processed products. Fresh vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds are dense in fiber and rich in nutrients. Conversely, processed foods are typically packed with sugar and/or refined white flour. These wreak havoc on blood sugar levels, initially sending them sky-high, only to crash a few hours later.
* Increase your intake of healthy fats. These have been demonstrated to reduce inflammation, and lower the risk of heart attack, stroke and depression. Rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids include deep water fish (such as salmon, black cod and tuna), walnuts, pumpkin seeds, flaxseed and flaxseed oil.
* Eat protein with every meal. In particular, consume protein (e.g., eggs, poultry, fish, lean meat, nuts, legumes or tofu) at breakfast each morning to regulate insulin levels, curb appetite and start the day on an even keel.
* Consider supplements that support one or more of the following -- insulin function, blood sugar control and mitochondria. In particular, Dr. Hyman recommends coenzyme Q-10, which benefits mitochondrial function... chromium (such as chromium polynicotinate), which improves glucose control... acetyl-l-carnitine, alpha-lipoic acid, magnesium and fish oil, which benefit both glucose and mitochondrial function. Consult your health care practitioner before use and for dosages.
* Get moving. To fine-tune the mitochondria, you need to exercise and build muscle. Each week, make it a point to schedule two to three 20-minute strength-training sessions, and at least three 30-minute periods of aerobic conditioning. In particular, Dr. Hyman recommends interval training, in which you alternate fast (or intense) and moderate (or lighter) exercise (e.g., a series of short sprints followed by walking).
* Practice effective stress management. Whether you achieve this through meditation, exercise or a long walk on the beach is up to you, but it's essential to keep stress under control. Anxiety increases the body's level of cortisol, a hormone that disturbs blood sugar levels.
* Reduce your exposure to toxins. Our bodies are regularly bombarded with environmental insults, including pesticides, smog, heavy metals and other pollutants. These trigger inflammation, which is at the root of many of the diseases and conditions we associate with aging and damage the mitochondria. Avoid or limit your exposure by choosing organic foods, fish raised in the wild instead of on fish farms, "green" cleaning products, and so on.

Benefits of Drinking Tea

According to a new study drinking tea over a long period--oolong, green, or black--builds strong bones. Bone loss can start in the thirties, especially in women. Although osteoporosis (bone loss) is more common in women it occurs in elderly men too. For women, the loss may worsen after they reach menopause when their level of estrogen drop. Estrogen is a hormone that helps maintain strong, healthy bones. As bone density decreases, the risk of breaking a bone increases significantly, especially in the hips, spine, and wrists.

Researchers gathered detailed dietary information from more than 1,000 Chinese men and women with an average age of 52 years. Approximately half of those who participated drank tea at least once a week for at least six months. Those who drank tea regularly for six to 10 years showed higher bone density in the spine than occasional tea drinkers. Those who drank tea for more than 10 years had even better bone density. It made no difference in the type of tea they drank (green, oolong or black). Few of the participants put milk in their tea.

Why is tea so good for the bones? The researchers offered several possibilities: (1) tea, an important source of fluoride, can slow osteoporosis; (2) tea is rich in flavonoids, antioxidant compounds that improve bone density; (3) tea may alter the way the body uses other minerals that influence bone density.

The effect of tea on heart attack survival rates has also been studied. Researchers found that heavy tea drinkers were most likely to have survived while the death rate among moderate tea drinkers was nearly one-third lower than that of those who did not drink tea. This led researchers to conclude there was an "inverse relationship" between tea drinking and heart attack survival rates. The research is the latest in a series of studies to conclude that tea drinking can be good for health. Earlier this year a study in China showed that regular tea drinkers were only half as likely to develop cancer of the stomach or esophagus as non-drinkers. Research also revealed that the caffeine in tea could relieve aches and pains at least as quickly as painkilling medication.

Dr. Sylvia Mandel, of the Eve Topf Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Israel, found that tea consumption helps maintain the health of neurons in the brain and improved their ability to combat stressors. In the study, Dr. Mandel provided an amount of purified tea flavonoids equal to about two to four cups of green tea per day to animals with induced Parkinsonism as part of their diet to evaluate how their symptoms improved or progressed. She found that in animals that were fed green tea flavonoids, the polyphone appeared to prevent brain cells from dying, and showed improvements in reducing compounds that lead to lesions in the brains of animals with Alzheimer's disease. The research shows that tea may not only help prevent brain cells from dying, it appears that tea flavonoids may even rescue the neurons once they have been damaged.

Foods to Avoid for a Healthy Heart

Trans-fats--Trans-fats are found in most margarines, snack foods, heavily processed foods and some cooking oils. Read the label of your food carefully. Trans-fats are listed on food labels as "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated" oil). Trans-fats can reduce HDL ("good") cholesterol levels and raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels.

Animal protein--Excessive protein from an animal source (meat, eggs, cheese, etc.) has been shown to raise levels of homocysteine, a toxic amino acid. You can eat meat, cheese and eggs but don't make that the largest percent of your diet. Add plenty of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables to satisfy your appetite.

Refined carbohydrates--A diet full of cookies, cakes, crackers, fluffy breads, chips and sodas can increase triglyceride levels and lower HDL. Avoid all products with "high fructose corn syrup." High fructose corn syrup is added to most carbonated beverages.

Salt (sodium)--Excessive salt in the diet has been linked to high blood pressure and heart disease. Avoid processed and canned foods, taste foods before you salt them and do not add salt while cooking, avoid foods that are visibly salted and read the label (1,500 mg sodium per day is the suggested goal). Many food products have a "no salt added" version on the same self.

Brain Food

The brain is a living organ and is affected by what we eat in the short-term and in the long-term. To simplify, you could say a healthy body equals a healthy brain.

To start the day, eat a balanced breakfast. When waking up from sleeping the body and brain have been in a fast state. If the last meal you ate was finished by 7 p.m. and if you wake up at 7 a.m., it was a 12-hour fast. It helps the brain function to have a balanced breakfast after that 12 hours. Balanced means not too high in calories, not too high in sugar, and has some protein, some fiber, and some fat (such as eggs, whole wheat toast with butter, and orange juice). That kind of breakfast will keep you alert until lunch.

A good way to prevent Alzheimer's is eat fish two to three times a week. Some fish that contain omega-3s are mackerel, salmon, and sardines.

A study in Switzerland discovered that people in their 60s who had the highest blood levels of vitamin C and beta-carotene scored higher on memory tests than those with low levels. In almost all cases the people in the study got the vitamin C and beta-carotene from food, not supplements. Foods with beta-carotene are yellow, orange, and dark green vegetables and foods with vitamin C are citrus fruits, berries, and fresh peppers. Blueberries are in a class by themselves for the benefits they provide to the brain and other parts of the body.

Asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, lentils, kidney beans, and pinto beans are just a few foods that will supply you with folic acid, another nutrient necessary for proper brain function.

The Cheapest Way to Fix and Maintain Good Health

If you want a "pill" to fix your heart, try exercise. Physical therapy used on people after a heart attack enables them to live longer than those who do get no therapy. Research using rats has shown that exercise can even be more effective than statins, the drugs normally used to treat heart disease.

Research has found that exercise sparks the creation of new heart vessels. In a study of 37 people at Leipzig University in Germany, Dr. Robert Hollriegel found that people with serious heart failure who rode a bike for up to 30 minutes a day for four months produced new stem cells in their bones. Those in the study who exercised also had more small blood vessels in their muscles. Those who didn't exercise had no change in their vessels or muscles.

The way it works is that physical activity strains the heart's arteries and muscles by sending 10 times the normal amount of blood to the muscles being used. Then stem cells are sent to relieve this stress and may repair any damaged parts. If the exercise is continued, the stem cells help the body adapt to the stress by building new blood vessels and strengthening muscles. To maintain the benefits of the new blood vessels and stronger muscles, the exercise must be done on a regular

The Power of Aromatherapy

Alan Hirsch M.D., F.A.C.P. is a neurologist and psychiatrist working on the treatment of smell and taste loss. Dr. Hirsch is the Neurological Director of the Smell & Taste Research and Treatment Foundation in Chicago, Illinois. Here are some excerpts from his article, The Power of Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy can be a remarkable remedy. When a patient smells a particular odor, scent molecules bind to the surface of cell walls at the top of the nose. This triggers the release of neurotransmitters and other chemicals that stimulate different parts of the brain. Scents that patients enjoy are more effective remedies than those that they find unpleasant. Many health conditions can be improved with aromatherapy. Whether or not these problems can be prevented with aromatherapy is still being researched.

Anxiety: Green apple and/or cucumber have been shown to reduce anxiety by about 18%. Also, patients who sniff lavender have an increase in alpha waves, a sign of heightened relaxation.

Energy: People who smell a peppermint scent or chew a piece of peppermint gum or candy experience a sudden burst of energy. Also helpful: The smell of strawberries or buttered popcorn. Both cause an increase in energy as well as metabolism.

Obesity: A number of studies have shown that particular odors can help people lose weight. Some scents stimulate the part of the hypothalamus that controls appetite. Odors also may act as a displacement mechanism--a reminder to eat less. Peppermint and green apple have been shown to be effective. One large study found that people who sniffed either one of these scents when they felt hungry lost an average of 30 pounds over a six-month period. It's also helpful to take frequent deep sniffs of food while eating. Odor molecules, regardless of the food they come from, can fool the brain into thinking that more has been consumed, which helps suppress the appetite.

Concentration and memory: Aromatherapy can be used to accelerate learning speed and promote better concentration and memory. Sniffing a floral essential oil triggers the release of norepinephrine and adrenocorticotropic hormone, hormones that increase attention. Floral scents have been shown to improve memory and learning speed by about 17%. In one study, people were exposed to different scents prior to bowling. Those who smelled jasmine knocked down 28% more pins, probably because it improved their concentration and hand/eye coordination.

The ill effects of junk food

Resisting junk food is difficult, but with age, taking in junk food is something to be desisted as they do not have a healthy effect on the body. How harmful can junk food be exactly on your body?
Here’s a look on why you need to cut down on junk food eating:

* Junk Diet Food Junk food is made using a lot of saturated fats. Such fats are unhealthy and on digestion can release a lot of toxins into your body. You body gets food but not healthy food.
* Junk food is sometime made using ingredients that are not very clean. This can in the long run spoil your stomach, liver and intestines.
* Junk food does not contain vitamins and minerals and much of the nutrients seen in properly cooked food and in raw food. The body is not getting the necessary vitamins and minerals necessary to have good health and immunity from diseases. Consequently, it makes the person having such food very prone to illnesses.
* Junk food makes you put on weight. People who have obesity or morbid obesity are those who have a preference for junk food and snacking.
* Eating junk food can make you prone to diabetes, because it contain too much of sugar. You cn also become susceptible to heart disease and blood pressure because of the salt and high fats found in this kind of food.
* Packed junk food contains preservatives and coloring, both of which contain carcinogenic substances.
* In the long run, junk food actually fastens the effects of aging. People show signs of old age faster because of continuously eating junk food. This is because continuous eating of junk food exposes the body to long periods of bad nutrition. The result is release of free radicals which are the chief factors responsible for aging effect.

The habit of taking in junk food is seen particularly with children, teenage and young adult and in the long run it can tell on their health. The main factor that attracts people to eat junk food is their taste. This taste must be substituted with food that is cooked well and delicious, but at the same time healthy for the body while intake eating salads and fruits must be take up and even increased.

Causes of Cancer

Cancer is caused by multiple factors but it should be noted that an abundance of these factors does not automatically indicate cancer.

Causes of Cancer Cancer can be caused by factors such as:

* Aging : Old age causes a significant increase in the probability of cancer since most cancers occur above the age of 65. However, cancer can occur at any age as well.
* Tobacco use : Tobacco is one of the most common and preventable factors in cancer-related deaths. It accounts for more than 180,000 deaths in the US every year.
* Sunlight : The Sun emits many types of harmful radiation but Ultra Violet radiation is the most dangerous in terms causing Cancer. It causes degeneration of the skin which leads to skin cancer.
* Radiation : Apart from sun’s radiation, there are other sources of radiation on earth, including ionizing radiation, radioactive fallout, Radon gas and X rays. Ionizing radiation is caused by rays entering from outer space. Radioactive fallout occurs due to accidents at Nuclear plants or while testing atomic weapons. Radon gas is found in rocks and earth and is the primary cause of Cancer in miners. X rays are used in medical procedures so are not extremely harmful if exposed with appropriate measures.
* Chemical industry : There are several other chemicals found in the paint industry or construction work which can also lead to Cancer.
* Viruses : Certain viruses and bacteria can also be the cause of Cancer.
* Hormone supplements : Certain hormone supplements prescribed by doctors, such as estrogen and progestin, can have significant side effects which may lead to Cancer.
* Family history : Not all but certain types of Cancer can be passed on through genes and may affect multiple generations. These include melanoma (skin cancer) and cancers of the breast, ovary, colon and prostate.
* Alcohol consumption : Having large amounts of Alcohol can also lead to Cancer.
* Health imbalance : Poor diet or being overweight can also be the cause of Cancer.

These are not the only causes of Cancer however, but they are the primary reasons and people who have them or work in Cancer causing environments would be well-advised to consult a doctor.

Diet For Pregnant Women

By: medicmagic

Vegetables, beans and side dishes rich in protein and which contains isoflavones like soy and eggs helps regulate the reproductive hormones.

Here are some healthy guidelines for pregnant women or those planning a pregnancy, according to ModernMom:

Nutrition
Folic acid is vital for pregnant women. Folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects, which can cause slow transmission of information from the brain. Folic acid works before pregnancy and during the first trimester.

You can get folic acid by eating fortified cereals, lentils, asparagus, spinach, black beans, peanuts, orange juice, broccoli, lettuce and whole wheat breads and pastsa. Folic acid can also be obtained from multivitamins with folic acid 400 mcg or more. Other nutrients that helps are vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc.

Bad habits to avoid
After knowing that you are pregnant, quit drinking alcohol, smoking and using drugs. Because some substance are left in the body for sometimes, you should stop the bad habits from when you planned a pregnancy.

If bad habits are still done until pregnancy, the fetus are at risk of miscarriage or born prematurely. Too much caffeine is also bad for the fetus, because caffeine absorbs iron which is needed by the baby and mother.

Choose fish menus
Increase intake of fish, especially salmon and tuna. But avoid fish which contains lots of mercury such as shark, swordfish, and king mackerel, because it will precipitate in the mother and fetus.

Avoid ‘junk foods’
Get rid of junk foods from the table. Potato chips, cookies, soda and fast food contains no nutrients for the mother and baby. Despite being pregnant, make sure the body mass index is between 20 to 30.

Normal weight gain of pregnancies are eight to 15 pounds. Excess weight during pregnancy are vulnerable to gestational diabetes, high blood pressure and reduces the chance of a normal birth.

Some Impact on The Baby if the Mother Has Gestational Diabetes

By: medicmagic

Diabetes that occurs in pregnant women occurs because during pregnancy, hormones in the body makes the insulin more difficult to use, so the pancreas has to work harder.

For pregnant women which has pancreas which works work well, then the pregnancy condition would not be a problem. But when the pancreas can not meet the demand forinsulin, the blood sugar levels will increase and causes diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes).

In most cases, the diabetes will disappear after the baby is born, although the risk of getting diabetes again is high for the women if they are pregnant again.

According to Babycenter, there are some impact on the baby if the mother has gestational diabetes:

1. Excess sugar in the blood and insulin can cause babies to have more fat, especially in their upper body so they become bigger.

There is a possibility that the baby is too big to be born through the normal process so caesarean birth is needed.

After the baby is born, there is a possibility the baby has low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). This condition occurs because the body still produces excess insulin in response to high glucose intake of the mother.

If doctors know that the mother have gestational diabetes, the newborn will be tested for blood sugar levels by taking a drop of blood from the baby’s heel. If the levels are low, the baby will be breastfed, but if it is too severe there is a possibility the baby will be given glucose IV infusion.

2. Infants have higher risk of jaundice disease, polycuthemia (increasing number of red blood cells in the blood) and hypocalcemia (low calcium levels in the blood).

3. If the control of blood sugar levels are bad, there is the possibility the the infant’s cardiac function can be affected.

4. As for the mother, the pregnancy has two times higher risk of pre-eclampsia.

Gestational diabetes generally does not have specific symptoms. That is why almost all pregnant women need to check glucose levels at 24-28 weeks of gestation. If the result shows positive, then a good blood sugar control and maintaining food intake is needed.

Pregnant women are vulnerable to diabetes if they are overweight, have a history of previous gestational diabetes or have a history of strong diabets in the family.

Eight Signs of Diabetes Which Are Rarely Known

By: medicmagic

Many people sometimes do not realize that they have diabetes mellitus, because symptoms of diabetes sometimes are not realized.

According to USNews, here are 8 indicators of diabetes which is not realized and is quite surprising:

1. Large breast size
According to a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, women with a bra size D or more at age of around 20 years old, are 5 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes (due to lifestyle). This is because breast size is a significant factor of body mass index (BMI).

2. Eyebrow color
When some hair on your body has started to become gray but the eyebrows color remains dark, then you should immediately check blood glucose levels. This is because diabetes can hamper the process of graying eyebrows.

3. Month of birth
A new research published in the American Diabetes Association, showed that the month of birth play a role in the development of type 1 diabetes. The results showed that babies born in spring are more likely to develop type 1 diabetes. The exact cause of this is unknown, but researchers suspect this is due to maternal diet or exposure to solar radiation.

4. Hearing problem
You should not ignore the disturbances in the sense of hearing, because hearing problem is now associated with complications of diabetes. People with diabetes are 2 times more likely to experience hearing problems.

5. Short legs
Studies at Johns Hopkins University found that men with short legs are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than men with long leg. This does not mean that there is a high impact on diabetes risk, but the ratio of leg length. This finding suggests something deeper in the risk of diabetes and fetal development.

6. Tooth decay
According to the Harvard Schools of Public Health and Dental Medicine, people who have periodontal disease or tooth loss increases the risk for diabetes. The study found that people who lose a tooth increases the risk of diabetes for both sexes at 14-29 percent, while periodontal disease is considered as a complication of diabetes.

7. Hair loss
Diabetic patients with atherosclerosis may also experience hair loss or hair thinning. This happens because there is thickening of the walls of blood vessels that narrow arteries throughout the body, including skin. Narrow blood vessels mean less oxygen, which causes symptoms such as loss of hair and shiny and thickened skin. Hair loss is not confined to one particular area of the body.

8. Exposure to pesticides

Based on the Agricultural Health Study, farmers who are often exposed to pesticides may increase the risk of diabetes, given the long-term exposure to pesticides and herbicides have been found to increase risk of diabetes.

Ten Phobias Most Often Found in People

By: medicmagic

Fear is a natural thing. But there are some people who has extraordinary afraid of certain things, this is called a phobia. Here are 10 of them which most often occurs:

1. Snake
This is the cause of the most common phobias. So, experts suspect that the fear of snakes has been printed in every person.

2. Spiders
This type of fear is often called Arachnophobia. Women are four times more scared of spiders than men. In a study presented in the Journal of Evolution and Human Behavior, David Rakison from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh said that a 11-month-old baby girl is already been able to show facial features which pictures fear of spiders or snakes, while not so in baby boys.

3. Room
Starting from claustrophobia, or fear of small room or space, to agoraphobia or fear that one can not escape from certain situations involving limited space. It usually occurs in elevators, public transportations, traffic jams or an area with crowded people.

4. Other People
This social phobia usually appears in a form of a feeling of panic accompanied by cold sweat, stomach pain, pale face that appears when one must appear in public. This phobia usually arise during childhood to adulthood, generally when a person is aged about 13 years old.

5. Height
Goose bumps when having to be at a certain height, is a symptom acrophobia or phobia of heights. This phobia is estimated to infect 3 to 5 percent of the population.

6. Dark
Fear of the emergence of a ghost, all supernatural creatures from under the bed, cupboards and windows when in the dark is one of the most commonphobias in children. But there are many adults who also suffers this phobia.

7. Lightning and thunder
For some people hearing a thunder and seeing lightning in the sky is not only a natural phenomenon that usually happens. Both of these can cause feelings of discomfort, panic, palpitations, and even the desire to move to another area.

8. Air Travel
Traveling using an airplane is a routine for many people these days, but certainly not for people with Aviophobia. This phobia is divided into two types, some fear of plane crashes which usually are fatal, while some experience the development of claustrophobia, or fear being in a closed cabin, said Barbara Rothbaum, a professor of psychiatry and director of the Trauma and Anxiety Recovery Program at Emory University School of Medicine.

9. Dogs
This animal is said to be human’s best friend. But still there are people who suffer cynophobia or frightened of dog barks or bites. No matter if it is a cute Chihuahua or a big guard dog. This phobia generally occur after a person has been bitten by a dog or seeing other people being bitten, said Brad Schmidt, a professor of psychology at Ohio State University.

10. Dentist
The experience of sound and sense of pain when cleaning plaque or pain when their tooth is pulled, is enough to make people to suffer from dentist phobia. People who are phobic of the dentist will usually only visit a dentist if they have a very bad toothache.

How to Choose Anti-aging Product

By: medicmagic

Almost every month we hear skin care products release their anti-aging products. And they all claim that their products are the best in eliminating fine lines or wrinkles on the face that arise due to our weakened collagen tissue.

So how do we choose the right antiaging product which really can remove wrinkles on the face? It is very easy, do not forget to read the label on the packaging and find the following active ingredients.

Vitamin A: Besides known as vitamin A, generally antiaging products will call it as retinol. By the skin, vitamin A which enters will be converted into retinol which functions to increase collagen production. “As we continue to produce collagen then there will be no more fine lines,” said Flor A. Mayoral, MD., A dermatologist at South Miami, United States.

Vitamin C: Functions not only to stimulate collagen but also to restore the brightness of the skin. Arthur W. Perry, MD., Assistant professor of plastic surgery at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, suggested that we use it at night because it is faster to absorb to repair skin tissue.

Vitamin E: Note whether DL-alpha-tocopherol is written in the label. If so, then we had chosen right product. Because this active substance will protect us from cancer risks due to exposure to ultraviolet light. Not only that, the ultraviolet rays that can not successfully be resisted by skin will damage skin cells and then make our skin dry and fine lines will appear.

Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA): Its function is to remove dead skin cells so that the regeneration of the skin can run optimally. Besides known as the AHA, the active ingredient is also listed as glycolic acid.

Vitamin B3 (niacin): This is a substance that serves as a shield for the skin cells. Because the way it works is to dispel the various toxins that can make the skin become unhealthy. An added bonus, this vitamin will also reduce irritation that comes when we use vitamin A too long.

Remember the names of these vitamins and do check and re-check when you want to buy tan antiaging cream, make sure that you select products containing these materials. Having the ability to choose the right product will also determine whether we succeed to remove wrinkles.

Finding difficulty in closing your eyes in bed? The problem is probably not on your eyes but from what you eat. Eating the right foods before bed can make people sleep more quickly and soundly. Here are some recommended foods before bed.

1. Almonds
Magnesium does not only cause sleepiness but also makes muscles more relaxed. Protein also maintain blood sugar levels during sleep, and changes the adrenaline from the active cycle to the break cycle.

2. Tea
Avoid all caffeine-related, is best done before bedtime. But chamomile tea in the other hand gives drowsiness effective. Another option, is green tea. Tea which contains tannin is good to make you sleepy.

3. Miso Soup

Green Tea Can Boost Your Health

Modern research too has shown that drinking green tea is beneficial to your health.

Here’s a list of seven health benefits of this tried and true brew:

1. Weight loss

Drinking this beverage helps you feel full, so it can curb your appetite. It may also help you burn more calories according to a study published in November, 1999, by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

2. Anti-Aging properties

Green tea is rich in the antioxidants vitamin E and C. Antioxidants destroy free radicals that damage cell membranes. Damaged cell membranes lead to diseases such as cancer, heart attacks and diabetes.

Drinking it may help relieve the suffering caused by rheumatoid arthritis. This was revealed in a study in April 1999 by researchers at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

3. Asthma relief

Green tea contains a substance called theophylline. It’s a muscle relaxant, so it can cause the muscles supporting the bronchial tubes to relax -- thus reducing asthma’s ability to restrict normal breathing.

4. Lowers blood pressure

If you have high blood pressure, you will be more susceptible to a heart attack or stroke. Green tea may prevent the formation of blood clots which lead to heart disease and stroke.

5. Fights cancer

A team from the Mayo Clinic found that three out of four chronic leukemia patients (who were given green tea extract) seemed to experience regression of the disease. The fourth patient also showed some improvement. The doctors gave the extract a try after a 2004 test tube study of green tea revealed that leukemia cells were killed by the substance.

According to the American Cancer Society, “Green tea contains chemicals known as polyphenols, which have antioxidant properties. Catechins are the major group of polyphenols in green tea. The most important catechin seems to be epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). EGCG may cause cancer cells to die like normal cells do. It may also work by stopping new blood vessels from forming, a process called angiogenesis, thereby cutting off the supply of blood to cancer cells.”

It is interesting to note that there seem to be fewer cancer deaths in Japan than in the United States. Could it be because citizens there drink a lot of green tea?

6. May lower cholesterol

Studies have shown that this drink may help lower cholesterol with no side effects. By lowering cholesterol, the body receives help in fighting heart disease and stroke as well.

7. Guards against infections

In April of 2003 the New York Times reported that its extract has the ability to strengthen the immune system’s ability to fight disease. Microbiologist Milton Schiffenbauer, professor at Pace University (New York) stated, “Our research shows tea extracts can destroy the organism that causes disease. If we can stimulate the immune system and at the same time we are destroying the organisms then it makes sense to drink more tea.”
