Tips How to Maintain Sperm Health

One characteristic of healthy sperm is if its number reaches 20 million per milliliter of sperm or semen. According to Methods Of Healing, there are some things you need to know in order to maintain healthy sperm.

1. Exercise
When your body is always in a good condition, the amount of content of your sperm would be good. Maintaining body condition can be easily done by applying regular exercise.

2. Ejaculation
Set time of ejaculation. Wait up to three days for another ejaculation. Ejaculating too frequently can worsen sperm quality.

3. Balanced nutrition
With proper nutrition, an adult male could maximize their sperm quantity. Avoid spicy foods, increase consumption of vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, asparagus, and sea algae. Also fruits such as tomatoes, watermelon, and guava.

4. Water

In addition to nutrient intake, sperm health are also influenced by lifestyle. For the sake of an excellent quantity and quality of sperm, avoid stress, smoking and alcohol consumption. Such bad habits can damage sperm quality. Use of underwear that are too tight also worsen the quality of sperm.

6. Sex in the morning
This habit is often used as a trick to speed up having a baby. When we wake in the morning, sperm production is at the highest level.

7. Ideal weight
Excess weight can affect the quantity of sperm. Choose the best diet menus that support the improvement of sperm health quality.

Decrease in sperm count can occur for several reasons. Apart from habit of wearing pants that are too tight, infection in the body can also lower the quantity and quality of sperm. It is important to consult a physician because the consumption of certain types of drugs also often affect sperm quality.

Nutritious Substances in Semen

The content of semen or sperm always attract the attention of scientists to examine. Semen contain many nutritious substances which are good for conception. But the benefits disappear if it is swallowed like taking medicine.

In the perspective of health, sperm is seen as a biological substance released by male to fertilize the eggs of women through the process of sperm-egg union. Semen or organic fluid is also known as seminal fluid, which usually contains spermatozoa.

Physiologically, semen released by the gonads (sexual glands) and other sexual organs of male or hermaphrodite animals to fertilize the female egg cell.

The results of a study by Johnson and Everitt in their book Essential Reproduction (2000) revealed that semen contains a high nutrient content. In a typical ejaculation (about a teaspoon), semen already contains 150 mg of protein, 11 mg carbohydrates, 6 mg of fat, 3 mg cholesterol, 7 percent potassium, copper and zinc.

Sugar
1. Fructose: Sugar which is very sweet which is also contained in fruits and honey
2. Sorbitol: a sweetener that is often used as a substitute for sugar in diabetics
3. Inositol: This sweet substances can enhance growth of healthy hair and are often considered as brain food

Proteins and amino acids
1. Glutathione: an important antioxidant that can bind toxins such as heavy metals, solvents and pesticides
2. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): nucleic acid that contains genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all living organisms
3. Creatine: the supply of energy for muscle contraction

Mineral
1. Phosphorus: helps the body absorb calcium to make strong bones
2. Zinc
