Richard Hawkins tells a story of a Professor who was told in a lecture that his work for most of his career was wrong, and was shown why. Did the Professor sue him? Question his credentials? Cherry-pick data to back his case? No - he thanked him because he wanted to know the truth. He was a scientist. Scientists are accused of arrogance, but of course, submitting to the scientific method is the opposite of arrogance.
How many homeopaths do you think would change their mind about whether it works when they see new data?
